Celebrating Three Year Anniversary with Lanny Wolfe
It was a very busy day at the office, just about three years ago. When suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by a very strong urge from the Holy Spirit to call, Lanny Wolfe. Most likely, it had been over seven years since I had talked with him. Without hesitation I called his number and was surprised when he answered his phone. We talked and went over some of our years of memories. He sounded a bit busy, so I quickly blurted out my request. "Would it be possible for you to come to Trinity United Methodist Church be the Director of Music and Drama Department?" He said, "Let me think about it." We said our good-byes in our normal fashion and hung up the phone.
Within thirty minutes of us hanging up, my phone rang. To my surprise I heard Lanny's voice on the other end saying, "I have thought about your request and feel that at times, God makes available certain missions for me to do. I believe we can make this work without too much difficulty." He then gave me a schedule for the next three months, which included an Easter Program.
I was thrilled, to say the least, but, at the same time I was filled with concerns. He would be coming into a situation that was going to take a lot of effort, patience, grace, and understanding. I called him back and we discussed the situation further. He assured me that he had heard from God. And, everything would be fine.
In January 2011, we will celebrate three wonderful years of spiritual growth, choir growth and being guided masterfully on how to left up Jesus in our songs with Lanny Wolfe. Wow! How quickly time goes by. The choir, last weekend, had over 25 trained singers whose worship and praise filled the Sanctuary with a glorious presence of the Holy Spirit.
I want Lanny know how thankful I am for his diligent, self-sacrificing service to Trinity United Methodist Church. His ministry of teaching, directing, writing, producing, arranging and Jesus-centered worship has not only blessed our congregation but literally hundreds of others in our community.
